Clinical Nursing Role Overview

CQ Health provides public health services across Central Queensland, in hospitals and in the community. The organisation is a statutory body governed by its Board. It serves a growing population of approximately 250,000 people and employs over 3,700 staff, treating more than 700,000 patients each year.

The role requires advanced clinical leadership and clinical expertise relevant to the specialty of Reprocessing of Reusable Medical Devices across the region. This includes ensuring compliance with AS5369 Standard across all healthcare facilities, including endoscopy services, oral health services, cardiac investigations, maternity services, and any other areas that use and reprocess reusable medical devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control.
  • Maintain and improve existing systems for sterilising equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures to prevent adverse events.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on infection prevention and control practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Certificate III in Sterilisation from an approved training organisation.
  • Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australasia (GENCA) endoscopy reprocessing training.
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment from an approved training organisation.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Credentialed status with the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control.
