Job Opportunity

We are seeking highly qualified medical professionals to serve as members of a prestigious authority responsible for determining Statements of Principles for diseases, injuries, or deaths related to military service based on sound medical-scientific evidence.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in psychiatry, musculoskeletal medicine, and/or epidemiology, with a strong track record of intellectual rigor, high ethical standards, and exceptional representational and stakeholder management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine SOPs for diseases, injuries, or deaths related to military service based on sound medical-scientific evidence.
  • Provide expert leadership in psychiatry, musculoskeletal medicine, and/or epidemiology as part of a multidisciplinary panel.
  • Engage in part-time duties appointed by the Minister for Veterans' Affairs for up to five years.
Requirements
  • Registered medical practitioner or medical scientist with an outstanding academic record.
  • Extensive clinical or public health experience.
  • Expertise in psychiatry, musculoskeletal medicine, and/or epidemiology is highly regarded.
  • Strong leadership, representational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Understanding of the Australian Repatriation system and experience working with executive government and institutions.

Appointments are made by the Minister for Veterans' Affairs for periods up to five years. Applications received in this recruitment process may also be used to fill future appointments.
