About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled financial professional to join our team as a Accounts/Finance Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support with financial activities, including day-to-day processing of accounts payable, maintenance of accounts and associated records, management of budgets, preparation of financial reports, and ensuring that financial transactions comply with accounting standards.
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial records, including filing invoices, entering bills, and entering progress notes in the E-Case system.
- Providing expert advice and support on accounting matters, including responding to related inquiries and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
- Assisting with maintaining the organisation's finances to ensure both daily and long-term financial stability, including cash cheques banking, accepting and processing payments from clients, issuing cash receipts, and managing debt collection.
- Maintaining robust financial procedures, including bank reconciliations, preparing payments, and processing bills.
- Conducting data analysis and generating financial reports as required to inform business decisions and drive growth.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a not-for-profit organisation.
- Proficient in accounting software such as XERO or similar, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with bank reconciliations and payment platforms (BPAY, OSKO, TYRO, EFTPOS), with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams), with ability to learn new systems and technology quickly.
- Above average communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Able to understand and interpret complex financial data, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with forecasting and budgeting, with ability to prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders.
