Job Opportunity

The Chief Operating Officer is a senior leadership position that oversees the strategic direction and operational management of healthcare services across Canberra.

This role requires strong visionary leadership skills, with the ability to drive innovation, improve performance, and champion sustainable high-quality care for the local community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance access, performance, and patient flow across the care continuum.
  • Collaborating with senior executives to develop and implement innovative systems and processes that support operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversight of network operations centres and leadership of cross-border health service delivery agreements, ensuring financial sustainability and high-quality outcomes.
  • Managing a workforce of approximately 9000FTE and contributing to shaping the future of healthcare in the ACT and surrounding regions.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in tertiary hospital and health service operations.
  • A collaborative leadership style and commitment to taking diverse teams on a reform and improvement journey in a public health service setting.
