About the Role

The Sydney Opera House is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Sound and Audio Visual Services team. As the Head of Sound and Audio Visual, you will be responsible for providing expert technical leadership and ensuring that our sound and audio visual capabilities align with our artistic vision and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and foster a culture of continuous learning, personal development, and technical excellence within the team.
  • Manage a team of specialists to provide outstanding customer service to presenters and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement business plans, prepare and evaluate tenders, and hold contractors to a high standard.
  • Provide expert advice to Production Managers, Account Managers, and other technical staff.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years' demonstrated high-level technical production experience, with sound and audio visual expertise.
  • Demonstrated high-level project management skills, including technical project management and experience with project costing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Proven capacity to self-direct and make decisions, incorporating excellent organisational, strategic, analytical, and lateral thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level expertise in leading and building teams, including formal training and mentoring programs, staff development programs, performance management, and rostering.
  • Extensive knowledge of and commitment to WH&S and risk management matters within a production environment.
  • High level of commitment to client needs and demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, including demonstrated sound decision-making and crisis management skills.
