Welding Fabricator

We seek a skilled professional with expertise in welding and fabrication to fill this critical role. As part of the production team, you will operate hand-welding and semi-automated equipment to safely weld or join metal components for construction and fabrication, adhering to quality, safety, and time specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Determine product or job instructions and specifications by reading drawings, work orders and production schedules.
  2. Operate welding equipment competently and safely to the required specifications and Australian Standard.
  3. Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the fabrication trade.
  4. Label and sort manufactured plate material into product groups.
  5. Mark-out, cut/drill/punch holes as required for plate material in accordance with fabrication drawings.
  6. Layout, position, align and assemble components together in accordance with fabrication drawings and tolerances.
  7. Measure and cut raw materials with straightedges and high accuracy.
  8. Move steel in workshop with forklift (where licensed and authorised).
  9. Transfer fabricated components between production departments in accordance with production schedules.
  10. Maintain general housekeeping and upkeep of work areas, equipment, tools and facilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Trade qualifications in welding / boiler making with working knowledge of standard practices and methods of the fabrication trade.
  • Proven experience using reliable, safe work practices.
  • Forklift licence.
  • Ability to work reasonable amounts of overtime as operationally required.
  • Flexible approach and cooperative attitude.
  • Passion for the fabrication trade.
