Job Description:

As a key member of our team at Cotalent, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and performance of our Clearing database environment. This involves managing non-production, production, and disaster recovery database environments to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with support teams to optimize hardware configurations for peak database performance and availability.
  • Proactively monitor the database environment to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct trend analysis to track database performance and throughput for capacity planning.
  • Responsible for database enhancements, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Coordinate with business, architecture, development, and technical teams to manage and implement database changes.
  • Analyze potential hardware issues before contacting third-party support.
  • Serve as the primary contact for escalating issues to third-party support when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database problems, documenting the solutions in the call logging system.
  • Work with users to ensure prompt and satisfactory resolution of issues.
  • Develop automated housekeeping and monitoring tasks to reduce manual intervention.
  • Investigate and implement performance optimization strategies and prevent recurring problems.
  • Maintain comprehensive system documentation.
  • Ensure all system and application changes are approved through appropriate Change Control processes.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks for High Availability and Disaster Recovery tests, planning and executing these tests as needed.
  • Oversee the implementation of our bank's clearing business applications in development, test, and production environments, including application installation, release management, patching, and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with the architecture team to provide technical expertise and support for global infrastructure projects.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience implementing and supporting Postgres and MS-SQL databases in high-availability environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an expert SQL/Postgres DBA.
  • Extensive knowledge of Postgres Enterprise and/or Community editions.
  • Experience with Red Hat Cluster, especially in the context of Postgres databases.
  • Strong expertise in implementing and supporting streaming replication across sites.
  • Automation skills for Postgre SQL installation.
  • Comprehensive experience with Postgres and SQL database tools and technologies.
  • Deep understanding of architectural and operational complexities in Postgres and MS-SQL environments.
  • Proficiency in administration, configuration, installation, maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting of database environments.
  • Expertise in capacity management, proactive housekeeping, and archiving.
  • Experience in managing backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability database environments.
  • Ability to support software developers in database operations, including SQL and stored procedure creation.
