About the Role

The University Librarian will be a strategic leader who brings passion and a clear vision for leading-edge libraries positioned at the academic and cultural heart of Edith Cowan University. This role will play a crucial part in supporting, advancing, and promoting high-quality, innovative learning and teaching, as well as cutting-edge discoveries in research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the university libraries, aligning with the institution's goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage a team of library professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Build effective relationships with academic staff, students, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and develop services that meet their expectations.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in library services, and implement new initiatives to enhance the user experience.
  • Develop and manage budgets, resources, and services to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the libraries.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote the libraries as a hub for academic and cultural activities.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of strategic leadership and management in an education environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, inspire, and think creatively.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to develop and manage budgets, resources, and services.
  • Ability to build effective collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to articulate a clear vision and strategy for the libraries.
