Graduate Teacher Program

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic graduate teacher to join our dynamic team of educators. As a graduate teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a range of students and classes, with a focus on further developing your skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To plan and implement a range of teaching programs or courses of study
  • To teach an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level
  • To monitor, evaluate, and report student progress in key learning areas
  • To implement strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes
  • To maintain records of class attendance and recording student progress
  • To implement effective student management consistent with the school charter

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills
  2. Demonstrated capacity to respond to student learning needs
  3. Demonstrated capacity to implement high-impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth
  4. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  5. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing, and engagement

Requirements:

  • Have completed their course requirements and graduated in the last 4 years
  • Not be employed as a teacher by the department at the time the advertised position is to commence
  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
