We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our team in a Major Tertiary referral hospital and regional emergency department.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine, working in our District Emergency Departments which see a combined total of nearly 150,000 patients per year. As a Visiting Medical Officer, you will have access to most specialties within our region, including general, trauma and sub-specialty surgery, general and sub-specialty medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology and mental health.
Our hospital is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for ED training with Wollongong Hospital as a major centre for training since 2022. Our district runs a successful Registrar teaching program with a dedicated education team that consistently achieves Fellowship examination success.
As a Visiting Medical Officer, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in Emergency Medicine, work with a talented team of healthcare professionals, and contribute to the provision of high-quality patient care. We offer simulation, research and service development opportunities via our resources.
Requirements- Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the relevant authorities
- Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) and/or equivalent specialist recognition
- Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position
- Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and other staff
