Be a key player in delivering innovative solutions for Australia's water challenges. Stantec's Water team is growing, and we're seeking exceptional talent to join our Brisbane office as Principal Design Manager.

As Principal Design Manager, you'll play a critical role in providing technical expertise and leading technical teams to develop and deliver the most appropriate technical solution for key water and wastewater projects in Queensland.

Your responsibilities will include planning, programming, and coordinating studies, investigation, design, and construction management projects. You'll work closely with clients to understand their needs and deliver valuable business solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary activities to ensure an integrated technical solution.
  • Deliver outputs on time and to high quality standards.
  • Bring a can-do attitude and focus on finding solutions.
  • Lead engineering projects, manage internal disciplines, and subcontractors.
  • Support delivery teams during design and construction, acting in a senior leadership role.
  • Undertake internal technical reviews and verification checks.
  • Focus on developing project delivery expertise, locally and across ANZ.
  • Identify opportunities and build relationships with key utility clients and future water-focused clients.
  • Contribute to proposal development and bid preparation.
  • Facilitate design coordination and review meetings, ensuring compliance with engineering assurance processes.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering field (CPEng and RPEQ or ability to obtain).
  • At least 10 years of civil or process-mechanical water infrastructure engineering experience (design and construction).
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, including managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of water and wastewater services and delivery environments.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong understanding of D&C or alternative delivery projects.
