About the Horticultural Apprentice Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Horticultural Apprentice to join our team at Novaskill.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognise and name plants
  • Identify and control weeds, pests and diseases
  • Learn to propagate and grow your own plants
  • Understand soil characteristics
  • Operate basic garden machinery and equipment
  • Plant trees, shrubs and other plants
  • Follow Work Health & Safety (WHS) procedures

Learning Outcomes:

  • Techniques to look after your own garden
  • An understanding of what it's like to work in the horticulture industry
  • The skills and confidence to seek employment in the horticulture industry
  • A strong pathway to continue your study and enhance your career opportunities

Requirements:

  • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to use hand tools
  • An interest in the horticulture industry
  • A basic level of physical fitness
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Commitment to safety

About You:

  • Energetic, punctual, and reliable
  • Completion of Year 10 – as a minimum
  • Demonstrated commitment to completing your study whilst balancing working
  • Willing to work hard and complete the job
  • Drivers Licence & Reliable Transport is a must
