**Job Title:** Nurse Unit Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to oversee our Surgical Ward. This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership and direction while ensuring the efficient delivery of evidence-based nursing care.

This is a full-time position with 76 hours per fortnight. As the ideal candidate, you will have a proven track record in nursing leadership, a strong commitment to evidence-based care, and a passion for patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing operational leadership and management of the Medical and Rehabilitation Ward
  • Ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care while managing human, financial, and material resources
  • Actively participating in quality improvement and accreditation processes, adhering to National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHS) and Workplace Health and Safety protocols
  • Supporting and mentoring less experienced nursing staff, promoting continuous learning and development
  • Ensuring a safe and effective work environment through active management of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) concerns

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
  • Experience in the Acute setting
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong commitment to developing in a management role
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer-focused care
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS office and various databases
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management
  • Demonstrated HR management experience
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Strong understanding of patient flow
