About the Role

To provide clinical direction and management in endoscopic and gastroenterology services, supporting Directors of Medicine and Surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for training, education, and supervision of junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Metro South's purpose and objectives.
  • Manage in/outpatients and provide consulting services for gastroenterological disorders within scope of practice and service capability framework.
  • Provide diagnostic and interventional endoscopic services at the Hospital.
  • Perform upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, colonoscopy, and monitor performance using accepted endoscopy quality indicators.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Deliver appropriate evidenced-based patient care and delegate provision of clinical care when necessary.
  • Conduct research in specialist medical area.
  • Contribute to divisional and hospital quality programs and safety.
  • Make ethical decisions in achievement of organisational goals.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Be involved in development and presentation of quality assurance activities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development through seminars and conferences.
  • Participate in professional committees to contribute to management framework and infrastructure.

Educational Responsibilities

  • Supervise training fellows, registrars, and junior medical staff.
  • Contribute to teaching of medical students, registrars, and prevocational junior doctors.
  • Treat patients and staff fairly and with mutual respect.

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent plus FRACP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
  • Recognition from the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
  • Knowledge and subspecialty training in inflammatory bowel disease.
