Apprentice Mechanic Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in heavy commercial vehicle mechanics. As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles.

The successful candidate will have the chance to work with a range of mechanical equipment, including light and heavy vehicles, as well as small construction plant items. You will gain invaluable experience in servicing, inspecting, and repairing Council vehicles and equipment.

During the Apprenticeship, you will also undertake a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, which will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to excel in this field.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Service, inspect, and repair Council vehicles and equipment, including Rural Fire Service and external customer fleets
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated commitment to the completion of a Certificate III in Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS)
  • Access to reliable transport for attendance at both work and external training providers
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the team and Council

Working Conditions

You will be working on a variety of projects, including the maintenance and repair of Council vehicles and equipment, as well as participating in internal networking events and developing your professional and social networks.
