The Role

The Metallurgy department at Glencore is seeking a highly skilled Metallurgist to provide technical support to the Copper Smelter. As a member of the Production team, you will be responsible for managing plant performance, concentrate blending, and logistics strategy, as well as improvement projects focused on metal recovery, operating costs, and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Metallurgists in delivering technical support to the Copper Smelter.
  • Develop plans to achieve key business objectives.
  • Design and oversee logistics, plant, or project trials to optimize Smelter performance.
  • Document and communicate technical improvements in the Smelter.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Extractive Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in metallurgical industries, preferably in pyrometallurgy and copper smelting.
  • Strong understanding of smelting systems and processes.
  • Experience in leading teams of 3-5 people.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis software.
  • PI AF experience and programming skills are a plus.
