About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Rural Campus Wellbeing Specialist to join our team at the University of New South Wales. In this critical role, you will provide wellbeing care services to UNSW students with social, emotional, health, and wellbeing needs through triage, assessment, and short solutions-based therapy.

You will work closely with senior academic and professional staff at local Rural Clinical Campuses sites, as well as local services such as the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMPH) and other health professionals. Your ability to liaise regularly with UNSW Central Services will facilitate the critical role in supporting students through a positive wellbeing approach and enhancing the student experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a work schedule to ensure on-campus availability between Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday each week at the identified campus
  • Liaise with students, academics, and support services to provide expert guidance and advice on a range of issues impacting student welfare, participation, retention, and success within the higher education sector
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Rural Clinical Campuses, to develop and implement initiatives that promote student wellbeing and mental health

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals who have psychosocial support needs such as disabilities, mental health, and chronic physical health, and significant experience conducting psycho-social needs and risk assessments; and undertaking short-term therapeutic interventions
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant post-qualifying experience in Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Mental Health Nurse with registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate accrediting body
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and external partners
