Avionics Radiation Effects Specialist

The company is looking for an Avionics Radiation Effects Specialist to join its team of experts in the Systems and Avionics Center of Excellence. The successful candidate will study, develop, and execute validation and verification strategies for avionics hardware used to successfully launch Blue Origin missions.
This role involves leading the charge for EEE parts-level, circuit-level, and system-level radiation effects testing that directly impacts all of Blue's space missions. Key responsibilities include developing custom radiation test setups, documenting radiation test plans and results, and maintaining Blue's radiation test database.
In this position, you will work closely with a highly trained team of Radiation Engineers to understand mission electronic platforms, derive required radiation testing needs, and efficiently plan and execute tests for total ionizing dose (TID), displacement damage dose (DDD), and single events (SEE).
To succeed in this role, you will require direct hands-on experience performing component/system radiation effects tests and employing measurement hardware. You should have a basic understanding of the effects of radiation on electronics, electrical engineering fundamentals, and familiarity with associated laboratory equipment.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Python and/or NI LabView programming, embedded software, and standard radiation environment modeling tools like IRENE, OMERE, SIRE2, SPENVIS, OLTARIS, CREME96, SAPPHIRE, ESP, or PSYCHIC.
The estimated salary for this position is $118,476, based on the location and job requirements.
