The role of a Librarian at an academic institution involves overseeing the acquisition and management of electronic resources, ensuring seamless access to scholarly content for students and academics.
This position is part of the Research Services team, working closely with licenses, invoices, metadata, and systems, liaising with vendors, and supporting the development and execution of clear and reliable processes.
Main Responsibilities:- Acquisitions: Analyse usage statistics, negotiate pricing, evaluate licenses, conduct trials, and ensure compliance with critical timeframes.
- Manage acquisition and renewal workflows in required systems, including creating and maintaining invoice, license, and vendor records.
- Establish and maintain access to electronic resources, troubleshooting access issues and liaising effectively with vendors and IT staff.
- Possess professional qualification in librarianship recognised by a reputable organisation.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Show ability to interpret, assess, and apply technical documentation, with experience contributing to process development and improvement.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing workflows.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Proactive and innovative mindset with a solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- Hold permanent work rights in Australia.
- Successful applicants are subject to National Police Clearance and background checks.
