About the Role

The Data Risk Manager plays a crucial part in implementing, ensuring compliance with, and monitoring Data Management and Privacy Policies and Standards across Australia and New Zealand. This involves working closely with the regional Data Management Office (DMO) and supporting the Senior Manager, Payroll, Risk and Compliance in adopting and implementing regional data management and privacy frameworks.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Payroll, Risk and Compliance and assists with general risk-related matters, including regular reporting, implementation of the Risk and Control Framework, and additional projects as required. This is an exciting opportunity to drive change through the Human Resources Department.

Data management is a rapidly growing area, driven by increasing regulatory requirements and business needs. This role will sit in Human Resources to operationalise the target operating model for Data Risk Management and ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Supporting business owners to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including advising on changes, identifying gaps, and escalating matters.
  • Supporting the Senior Manager, Payroll, Risk and Compliance on risk and compliance management, including day-to-day operational support, reporting, monitoring, and escalation of risk-related matters.
  • Reviewing ongoing screening alerts from Accuity/Compliance Link.
  • Conducting investigations and due diligence as required, and escalating to compliance where necessary.
  • Identifying data risks and developing controls to manage data issues within and across HR teams.
  • Developing and managing data assets, including Business Glossaries and Data Dictionaries, in collaboration with the Data Management Office (DMO) and HR SMEs.
  • Implementing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for processes and systems in HR, with assistance from HR SMEs.
  • Attending regular Privacy Domain Meetings to provide status updates on privacy management activities.
  • Completing quality reviews of final draft documents prior to submission to approval bodies, ensuring adherence to PPM requirements and correct use of templates.

Requirements for Success:

  • Bachelor of Commerce, Economics, Business, or Laws, or relevant industry qualification, or proven solid banking and finance expertise.
  • Six Sigma White-Belt certification desirable.
  • Experience in legal, compliance, or operational risk in organisations of similar size and complexity.
  • Experience in managing risk, evaluating risk, and reviewing risk.
  • Experience in project and change management.
  • Ability to translate business needs into robust processes, reporting, and system requirements.
  • Knowledge of causes, influences, and drivers of privacy, data risk management, operational, and compliance risks.
  • Ability to quickly understand databases, systems, and processes, and make recommendations for improvement.
