Transportation Systems Planner

About the Role
This position plays a vital role in shaping the future of public transportation in the Perth metropolitan area, focusing on long-term planning and optimizing the use of intelligent transport systems. If you have a passion for improving public transport efficiency and a background in transport planning, policy, and advanced technology systems, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to long-term planning for public transport services in the Perth metropolitan area, ensuring the use of cutting-edge technologies for informed decision-making.
- Develop service expansion plans for Transperth over the next ten years, providing detailed financial implications, including operating and capital costs.
- Monitor public transport trends and innovations both locally and globally, identifying opportunities for Perth's transport network.
- Manage the operational effectiveness of Transperth's Intelligent Transport Systems, including the Dynamic Stand Management System (DSMS), Real Time Tracking System (RTTS), and Traffic Signal Priority System (TSPS).
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of intelligent transport systems comprising of dynamic bus stand management systems, real time bus tracking systems, and vehicle traffic signal priority systems.
- Considerable knowledge of public transport planning and policy issues, including understanding of urban planning principles.
- Well-developed strategic planning and change management skills, including understanding of economic principles.
- Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills, including the ability to prepare responses to ministerial and parliamentary questions.
- Well-developed planning and organizing skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks to meet timelines.
