About the Role

The Major Developments Planning Manager is a key position within Unity Water, responsible for planning and coordinating the provision of services to support the responsible expansion of our water and sewerage networks.

This role requires a strong understanding of infrastructure planning, demand forecasting, and the water industry regulatory environment. The successful candidate will lead a small team and work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Managers to develop, implement, and manage internal and external stakeholders in relation to our strategic planning and asset reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement long-term infrastructure plans to service our rapidly growing region.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives and deliver liveable communities on the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay regions.
  • Collaborate with Councils, State government, and other key stakeholders to deliver high-quality emerging communities.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of water infrastructure agreements to mitigate financial risk while providing reasonable terms for timely progression of planned development.
  • Work with the Planning and Engineering teams to deliver Concept and Detailed Business Cases to support investment in projects.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree with significant experience within a utilities or an infrastructure environment, and a focus on asset planning.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure planning, demand forecasting, and water industry regulatory environment.
  • Previous experience leading a team is preferable, and the ability to identify where technical, social, or commercial processes need improvement and implement what is required to ensure outcomes are delivered.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, coupled with experience in liaising and consulting at Board and Executive level, and with Developers and other internal and external stakeholders.
