Laundry Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:

This is a key role in our laundry services team. As a Laundry Assistant, you will be responsible for performing laundry duties at our sites, following established schedules and direction from the Linen Services Leading Hand.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Laundry Operations: Perform laundry duties at Castlemaine and Maldon sites, following established schedules and direction from the Linen Services Leading Hand.
  • Issue Resolution: Assist in resolving linen service-related issues and corrective action requests in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members to meet service goals and quality standards.
  • Safety and Quality: Proactively report any safety concerns or incidents in the workplace.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Identify and contribute to solutions for challenges within your area of responsibility.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a high standard of customer service to meet the needs of residents and healthcare staff.
  • Linen Handling: Sort, wash, dry, fold, and hang residents' personal clothing as required.
  • Linen Preparation: Prepare and stock linen trolleys for use across both campuses, departments, and wards.
  • Linen Delivery: Deliver linen and personal clothing to designated areas using designated vehicles (laundry truck and tugs).
  • Inventory Management: Accurately complete and maintain impress sheets and stock forms.
  • Audit Participation: Participate in regular stock and cleaning audits as directed.
  • Professional Development: Complete all mandatory training and engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Support and Oversight: Support the Linen Services team through practical assistance and oversight of daily operations where needed.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Familiarity with laundry equipment and processes
