Risk Management Specialist

Barminco, a leading provider of underground mining services, is seeking an experienced Risk Management Specialist to join our team in Australia. As a key member of our Health and Safety department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our employees and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing work and non-work-related injuries, ensuring early intervention and smooth return-to-work processes. This will involve coordinating with internal stakeholders, including HR and Operations teams, as well as external partners, such as medical professionals and workers' compensation providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective injury management strategies, aligned with industry best practices and relevant legislation;Collaborate with the HSE team to provide expert guidance on risk assessment and mitigation;Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on workers' compensation claims, facilitating clear communication and efficient claim resolution;Maintain accurate records of injury management activities, including file notes and database updates;Travel to remote mine sites to meet with stakeholders, deliver training, and provide coaching on injury prevention and health awareness;Stay informed of legislative changes and best practices in injury management to uphold Barminco's compliance standards;Be available for after-hours calls and emergency callouts as required;Requirements:
- Degree in a related field (e.g., exercise physiology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy);
- Minimum 2 years' experience in workplace injury management, with a strong understanding of workers' compensation legislation and industry best practices;
- Proven ability to offer specialist advice on injury management and navigate injury management databases;
- Excellent communication, consultation, and influencing skills to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders;
- Keen observation and analytical abilities with high attention to detail;
- Valid driver's license (Class C or CA).
