Job Description

As a Senior Application Security Engineer at Davidson, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security of applications and systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle, conducting security reviews, implementing secure coding practices, and developing security tools and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Development Teams: Work closely with development teams to integrate security practices into the software development lifecycle, ensuring robust and secure applications.
  • Conduct Security Reviews: Conduct thorough security reviews of code, applications, and systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend effective fixes.
  • Implement Secure Coding Practices: Develop and maintain secure coding practices, threat modeling, and security design reviews to ensure all solutions meet stringent security standards.
  • Develop Security Tools and Policies: Create and maintain security tools, policies, and guidelines to ensure consistent enforcement and adherence across all projects.
  • Investigate and Resolve Security Vulnerabilities: Investigate, prioritize, and resolve security vulnerabilities across applications, coordinating with developers and engineers to patch and mitigate risks.
  • Mentor Junior Engineers: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, improving security awareness within the development teams.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Security Trends: Stay current with the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats to ensure proactive responses and secure solutions.
  • Audit and Compliance: Assist in security audits, compliance checks, and penetration testing activities, ensuring that security controls align with industry standards and best practices.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Technical Background: Strong technical background with 5+ years of experience in application security.
  • Security Tools: Proven experience working with security tools such as static and dynamic analysis, penetration testing, and code review platforms.
  • Vulnerability Remediation: Expertise in identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, secure coding, and application hardening.
  • Security Engineering: Knowledge of security engineering and a solid understanding of software engineering principles.
  • Programming Languages: Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks such as Python, Java, C#, or .NET.
  • Industry Standards: Familiarity with industry standards such as OWASP, ISO 27001, NIST, and secure development frameworks.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Desirable Skills

  • Cloud Security: Knowledge of cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and securing cloud-native applications.
  • Automation Tools: Experience with automation tools for security testing and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex security issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
