Lead Cyber Security Expert

We are seeking a Lead Cyber Security Expert to join our team in Canberra, ACT. As a key member of our professional services team, you will be responsible for leading our cyber security efforts and ensuring the highest level of security posture for our clients.

About the Role

This is a 12-month contract role that requires NV1 Clearance. As a Lead Cyber Security Expert, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting real-time monitoring of security alerts and incidents to ensure swift identification and resolution of potential threats.
  • Collecting and analyzing cyber security related data to identify vulnerabilities and improve our security posture.
  • Performing vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to evaluate the strength of our network defences.
  • Analyzing security incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborating with the IT team to configure and fine-tune security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-malware software.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation on security procedures, guidelines, and incident response plans.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest cyber security trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance our security posture.
  • Conducting security awareness training sessions for team members to foster a security-conscious culture.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Familiarity with the Australian Government Information Security Manual.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, security architectures, and information security frameworks.
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies, such as Sentinel or a similar SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus software, and endpoint protection.
  • Ideal experience in conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and respond quickly to security incidents.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
