Senior Workplace Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Workplace Health and Safety Specialist to join our Amazon Australia team. This role will be based in one of our new Fulfillment Centers (FCs), reporting directly to the BWU6 WHS Manager.

This is an hourly position that requires working closely with the WHS team to deliver exceptional safety standards within our FCs. The successful candidate will be trained on standard work processes and tools used within the WHS function.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, have a proactive approach to safety, and be able to serve as a role model for our entire workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly audits to identify compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Facilitate incident investigation processes to ensure timely resolution and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and records to comply with Amazon and local regulations
  • Enter Safety Incident Information into internal databases promptly
  • Perform regular safety observations and audits to ensure adherence to safety protocols
  • Come into close cooperation with Area Managers and others to complete their safety responsibilities effectively
  • Additional responsibilities may include fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other safety-related activities depending on the business unit and location
  • Participate in process improvement activities and drive initiatives to completion

This role operates on a shift pattern, working from Wednesday to Saturday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of our Horsley Park, NSW, AUS location.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Willingness to work 40 hours per week, with overtime as required
  • Capacity to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
  • Certificate IV in WHS
