Director of Compliance and Regulatory Strategy

Lead a cutting-edge compliance team at Western Union
We are seeking an experienced Director, AML Compliance to join our Sydney-based team. As a key member of our compliance department, you will be responsible for providing guidance and advice on regulatory requirements and policies to business teams.
About the Role
- Provide expert compliance advice and guidance to ensure alignment with enterprise policies and local regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement proactive compliance strategies.
- Develop and execute the Compliance Program across the Oceania and Philippines region.
- Stay up-to-date with regulatory trends, laws, and changes relevant to the country, including AML and Sanctions laws.
- Communicate policy updates and upcoming regulatory changes to the business.
- Manage ad-hoc queries from stakeholders, regulators, and CLS BU leads.
- Analyze management information and deliver Compliance reports to stakeholders.
- Support the VP, Head of Compliance for APAC in wider projects.
- Proactively manage tasks to resolution and maintain expertise in allocated field responsibilities.
- Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and provide guidance and development as required.
- Collaborate with the APAC Compliance team on work planning, objectives, deliverables, and performance.
Requirements
- Degree holder with 10 years of experience in complex retail/consumer financial services/payment services organizations or regulatory agencies/law firms involving payment services compliance issues.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a management/supervisory position with multiple direct reports.
- Experience working in anti-money laundering compliance, general compliance, or risk-based compliance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
- Diplomatic sensitivity and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Legal background is an advantage.
- Proven track record of complex problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Effective leadership and team player with strong analytical skills.
- High mobility – willing to travel and open for relocation.
