Pathologist Lead: Expert Lab Operations

The role of a Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist involves leading a team that is driven by excellence and guided by core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, and openness. This individual will oversee the operation of the Special Chemistry section to ensure high-quality diagnostic services in support of patient care.
This position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of public health through innovative laboratory practices while working within a team committed to professional growth and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of scientific, technical, and support staff; all testing and associated activities and logistics for the assigned laboratory.
- Overseeing the quality, cost, and operational integrity of the department; regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services in the department.
- Human resource, business, and resource management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills; including the ability to communicate with customers, patients, clinical, and laboratory staff.
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks; relevant standards and quality systems.
- Managerial skills with experience in laboratory operations, administration, and budgeting.
- Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems; supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems.
- Extensive knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory; maintenance of analytical equipment in a pathology laboratory.
- Proven ability to develop and implement new mass spectrometry assays.
- Sound understanding of legislation, policies, and requirements impacting the laboratory environment.
- Experience and knowledge in Mass Spectrometry techniques and analysis.
