Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary leader to shape the future of emergency services in South Australia. As Chief Executive, you will lead SAFECOM under the guidance of its Board and work with SA's fire and emergency service organisations to ensure volunteers and employees have the resources and support needed to carry out their vital work.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  1. Developing and managing a risk-based Emergency Management Framework for the State within a national context, working closely with Chief Officers of the SA Metropolitan Fire Service, Country Fire Service and State Emergency Service.
  2. Ensuring effective allocation of resources within the ESS to provide frontline services that protect and support South Australia's community.
  3. Developing and maintaining a strategic policy framework supported by risk management strategies and systems.
  4. Collaborating with stakeholders to initiate sector improvements and maintain key capabilities such as Public Information and Warning Systems and the State Emergency Information Call Centre Capability.
  5. Engaging with volunteer associations and unions as part of stakeholder engagement.
  6. Supporting the Minister for Emergency Services and Correctional Services in fulfilling legislative responsibilities under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 (SA).
