About the Role

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Thermal Analysis Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in the design and qualification of our advanced liquid rocket engines.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thermal analysis of rocket engine turbomachinery at various levels of maturity and detail
  • Develop and maintain accurate thermal models of turbomachinery components and assemblies
  • Analyze thermal data to inform structural and clearance analyses, ensuring pump performance and safety
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement thermal analysis methodologies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., mechanical, aerospace, thermal)
  • Minimum 6 years of industry experience in heat transfer design or analysis
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Classic or ANSYS Mechanical for thermal analysis
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, flow, and thermodynamic principles
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (master's or higher) in an engineering discipline with a focus on thermal or fluid sciences
  • Experience with flow network software to analyze turbomachinery systems
  • Background in thermal/fluid testing and instrumentation selection
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cryogens and phase change heat transfer
