Opportunity Overview
Perth Veterinary Specialists is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic veterinarian to join the team as a Veterinary Oncology Intern. This is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the only dedicated oncology department in Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment of patients for medical and radiation therapy, daily rounds presentation, treatment discussion and decision making.
- Assist in the safe administration of chemotherapy.
- Support oncology patients through required departments such as diagnostic imaging, surgery, and emergency.
- Participation in continuing education sessions and rounds, including inter-departmental journal club and rounds.
- Assisting in the training of the rotating intern and veterinary students.
Qualifications:
- Qualified veterinarian with registration in Western Australia.
- MANZCVS in Small Animal Medicine or current preparation would be preferred but not essential.
- Sound knowledge base in small animal medicine with a strong interest in veterinary oncology.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, demonstrates initiative and committed to providing care of the highest standard.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
