Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Irrigation Hydrologist to join our Water and Irrigation Systems team in a varied role that will provide innovative research, agro-hydrological modeling, remote sensing analyses, and contribute to the successful delivery of high-impact national & international projects related to water resources assessment and management.

This ongoing role involves undertaking hydrological data modelling and water resources assessments, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists & industry partners, and developing capabilities through career development and professional support opportunities.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualizing models of hydrological systems and contributing to practical/applied solutions to problems of water supply/demand in the face of a changing climate.
  • Integrating these solutions across disciplines amongst the broader suite of global change drivers, including ecosystem sustainability, livelihoods, and gender & social inclusion.
  • Processing, analyzing, and interpreting climate, remote sensing, hydrometric, and other relevant biophysical data using advanced geostatistical modeling, cloud computing resources, and machine learning.
  • Working as part of a transdisciplinary team focused on integrated water resources management, agricultural water management, and irrigation performance diagnosis.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD or an equivalent combination of qualifications and research experience in hydrological science, agro-hydrology, environmental science, or engineering. They will also possess programming skills (such as Python, R, etc.), spatial analytical skills, and experience working with large datasets. Strong oral and written communication skills, a strong publication record, and the ability to work independently and in teams are also essential.
