Job Summary

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to lead our cloud services team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for driving the development of mission-critical software systems that power our cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with teams to plan and execute engineering programs, software architecture, product policy, and user experience improvements.
  • Contribute to the development of requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, metrics, and integration to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Work with Technical Program Managers on release roadmaps and ensure the team is well positioned to support programs.
  • Improve efficiency and implement automation/tools to guide future software efforts.
  • Set expectations with individuals based on their level and role, meet regularly to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
