Job Title:

Patient Care Assistant - A Vital Support Role

The Patient Care Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care across our healthcare services. This role involves providing assistance with various tasks, including ward and department cleaning, patient transfers, bed making, and use of lifting equipment.

About You:

  • You hold a Certificate III Health Services Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • You possess a current Food Safety qualification and relevant food services certificate.
  • You have experience in HACCP procedures and quality management systems.
  • Previous experience as a Patient Care Assistant is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Ward and department cleaning to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Patient transfers, ensuring patients are safely relocated within the facility.
  • Bed making to provide a clean and comfortable environment for patients.
  • Use of lifting equipment, bed mover, and wheelchairs to facilitate efficient patient care.
  • Assist nursing staff as requested, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Transfer and cleaning of ward equipment to prevent cross-contamination and ensure infection control.
  • Manage ward errands, including picking up meals in a timely manner and following standard recipes.
  • Deliver, distribute, and collect all smartpak meal requirements, maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure Department of Health Food Service standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Report and maintain a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Program to optimize equipment functionality.
  • Completion of food safety documentation in a timely manner, adhering to regulatory requirements.
