About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Control Accountant to join our team at Suncorp Group. As a key member of our Financial Control team, you will be responsible for providing end-to-end ledger control and balance sheet reconciliations for Suncorp Group Limited and its subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Control Process Support: Collaborate with the Financial Control team to ensure robust financial control processes are in place for Suncorp Insurance and Group entities.
  • Journal Processing: Upload and post IFRS17 and non-IFRS17 journals, as well as manual journals, to support daily operational and month-end close processes using Oracle EBS and FAH templates.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of daily and monthly balance sheet reconciliations, cash payments, cash receipts, accounting, and reporting.
  • Financial Controls and Risk Management: Ensure financial controls are in place to safeguard the integrity of accounting and reporting for Insurance and Group entities, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Operational Risk Management: Review and analyze opportunities to reduce operational risk arising from existing processes and promote continuous simplification and standardization.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Genpact service providers to achieve month-end and general ledger reconciliation cycle closure within acceptable quality and timeframe limits.
Requirements
  • Accounting Qualifications: Degree in Accounting (or similar) - Mandatory
  • Professional Certifications: CA or CPA qualified, or working towards – Desired
  • Experience: 5 years + experience with emphasis on a similar role where large computerized systems are utilized.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills required, both written and verbal.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Oracle (or similar) general ledger [desirable].
  • Software Skills: Strong spreadsheet and word processing skills.
