Position Overview

As a Swimming Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to deliver comprehensive swimming and water safety education, contributing to the enhancement of our aquatic program. This is a flexible position that requires availability during mornings, evenings, and weekends, necessitating a compassionate approach to the diverse needs of our classes.

A genuine enthusiasm for swimming and a commitment to improving children's safety around water are essential. The ideal candidate will be lively, engaging, and personable, with a talent for connecting with young learners. Exceptional communication abilities and a dedication to outstanding customer service are crucial to ensure that students, their families, and the community derive maximum enjoyment and benefit from our offerings.

Successful candidates will showcase their capability to effectively engage with students of varying ages, skill levels, backgrounds, and requirements. Experience in school swimming programs and infant classes is advantageous, or a willingness to acquire such experience in the near future is expected. Availability on weekends is preferred.

Key Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Dynamic, innovative, and effective teaching methodology
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and public safety protocols within the facility
  • Flexibility to work during mornings, evenings, and weekends, with a focus on meeting the needs of students
  • Ability to function both independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Current First Aid (Level 2) and CPR Certification
  • Working With Children Check (or equivalent) and National Police Clearance
  • Current AUSTSWIM Certification in Teaching Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent)
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher qualification for Infant and Preschool Aquatics (Desirable)
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher qualification for Aquatics Access and Inclusion (Desirable)
  • Previous relevant experience is valued but not mandatory
  • ASCTA qualification is also acceptable
  • Blue Card (Note: No card, No Start)
