Clearance Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Clearance Classifier II to join our team at FedEx. As a key member of our customs clearance team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate tariff classification and compliance with customs regulations for import and export shipments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classify Goods Accurately
Classify goods according to customs regulations and international harmonized system (HS) codes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and laws.
Review Shipment DocumentationReview shipment documentation, including invoices and packing lists, to ensure correct tariff classification and identify any discrepancies or errors.
Collaborate with StakeholdersCollaborate with customers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to obtain accurate product information and address classification queries.
Stay Up-to-Date with Customs RegulationsMaintain current knowledge of customs regulations, trade agreements, and tariff schedules for compliance and accurate customer advice.
Resolve DiscrepanciesIdentify and resolve discrepancies in classification and documentation, communicating proactively with stakeholders to ensure seamless customs clearance processes.
Interface with Government AgenciesInterface with the Australian Border Force (ABF) and other government agencies to ensure regulatory compliance.
Maintain RecordsMaintain meticulous records and documentation related to tariff classifications and customs clearance processes.
Stay Ahead of Industry TrendsStay abreast of industry trends and changes in customs regulations to identify opportunities for process improvement.
Requirements:
- Education: Secondary education or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Level I: Two (2) years customs clearance experience.
- Level II: Three (3) years customs clearance experience.
- Lead: Four (4) years customs clearance experience.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office & PC.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Proven expertise in planning & organizing, with a strong accuracy & attention to detail.
