Job Description:

A dynamic opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Hotel Engineering Manager to join the Stamford Hotels & Resorts team. Based in Melbourne, this role presents a chance to leverage your expertise and lead a skilled maintenance team.

About the Role:
  • This is a permanent full-time position with a guaranteed 38 hours of work per week.
  • The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Engineer and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of property maintenance and improvements across our 308-suite hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee refurbishment projects with the Chief Engineer and General Manager.
  • Lead the maintenance team to plan and execute preventative maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, ensuring exceptional standards are maintained.
  • Develop and submit capital expenditure proposals and manage capex projects.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to minimize the impact of repairs and maintenance on operations.
  • Train staff and share expertise to enhance the overall team's skill set.
  • Coordinate external contractors as needed, including obtaining quotes, raising purchase orders, and ensuring work is completed within agreed time frames and adherence to hotel safety standards.
  • Design and implement solutions to improve energy management and conservation.
  • Prepare monthly maintenance reports.
  • Carry out project work as required.
  • Participate actively in the implementation and adherence to all Work Health & Safety policies and practices.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a maintenance management or building/facilities management role, or at least 5 years in a similar position.
  • Trade qualifications are essential.
  • Tertiary qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a large-scale hotel engineering department is advantageous.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale capex projects.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork capabilities.
  • Experience working with Property Management Systems (PMS) such as Opera is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High level of communication skills.
