Renewable Energy Specialists Wanted

About the Role

We're looking for Renewable Energy Specialists to join our dynamic team. As a key member, you'll be responsible for optimizing gas portfolios in the Spot gas markets using our gas supply and transportation contracts.

You'll also dispatch our electricity generation assets in the National Electricity Market to optimize the electricity portfolio. Additionally, you'll develop strategies to continually improve spot optimisation.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
  • O ptimise gas portfolio in the Spot gas markets using EnergyAustralia's gas supply and transportation contracts
  • D ispatch EnergyAustralia's electricity generation assets in the National Electricity Market to optimise the electricity portfolio
  • D evelop strategies allowing for current portfolio, variable market conditions & competitor behaviour, commodity spark-spread to continually improve spot optimisation.
  • D evelop new concepts, lateral solutions, and imaginative approaches to achieve optimal operational outcomes in an evolving and complex market.
  • C oordinate plant outages with the portfolio for optimal outcomes whilst ensuring spot market risk measures are met
  • A nalyse key competitor behaviour in the wholesale spot markets effectively communicated to key stakeholders to improve short- and long-term decision making.
  • S upport the development of small-scale computer-based tools to improve spot market optimisation, market, and competitor analysis.
About You

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a numeric discipline such as Engineering, Science, Finance or Economics, minimum Distinction average (please provide academic transcript and resume)
  • P roficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, with proven advanced Excel skills
  • E xposure to SQL, Tableau, VBA, R and Python is advantageous.
  • A particular interest in learning and developing within the Australian Energy Markets during a pivotal transitional phase.
  • C onceptual thinker and able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances a key feature of the dynamic wholesale energy markets.
  • W orking experience preferred, not essential.
  • S trong team ethos and natural ability to support overall effectiveness of the business by modelling behaviours consistent with company values.
