The Cassowary Coast Regional Council is seeking a skilled Technical Officer - Planning to join their team. As a key member of the Planning Services team, you will provide technical support for development, land tenure matters, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for the Planning Services team
- Streamline enquiries, applications, and correspondence on planning applications and other land use matters
- Deliver work in a manner that realises Council's desired outcomes and community expectations for development in the region
- Support the Principal Planner to encourage a performance-focused, team-oriented culture within the Planning Services team
- Diploma in Local Government (Planning) or relevant experience in Planning or a field related to Planning or Local Government
- Working knowledge of Planning Schemes, Planning Act 2016, and associated Legislation
- Basic knowledge of relevant Local Laws and Policies or ability to promptly acquire such knowledge
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and competency in all Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to project manage, organise your own workload, and work independently or in a team
- Current 'C' class drivers' licence
The Cassowary Coast Region is a beautiful and diverse area, nestled between the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics rainforest. The region consists of coastal and hinterland communities with 30,000 residents across the major townships of Cardwell, Mission Beach, Tully, and Innisfail.
