About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Therapeutic Care Specialist to join our team in Newcastle. As a key member of our team, you will provide essential support and care to children and young people residing in Intensive Therapeutic Care homes.

Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain professional relationships with our young residents, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment that fosters their emotional wellbeing and self-efficacy.

To achieve this, you will undertake a range of daily duties, including:

  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with the young people in your care
  • Meeting the daily needs of our residents, while adhering to legislative requirements and organisational initiatives
  • Providing daily care, supervision, and role-modelling to promote healthy development
  • Facilitating activities that connect our residents with their families, communities, and cultures
  • Supporting our residents in participating in education, vocational training, or employment opportunities
  • Actively advocating for the rights and interests of our young people
  • Participating in team meetings, reflective practice, and supervision to ensure best practice
Salary and Benefits

This is a part-time permanent position offering an attractive hourly rate of $35.14 + superannuation, dependent on qualifications and experience. Additionally, you will enjoy generous salary packaging benefits of $15,900 per year, tax-free.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Diploma in Community Services or a related field, or willingness to complete a Diploma offered by Life Without Barriers
  • Current Provide First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Australian Driver's Licence
  • The ability to form and maintain professional relationships with children and young people
