Autonomous Field Validation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Autonomous Field Validation Engineer to contribute to our innovative projects. The role involves a diverse range of responsibilities including the integration and commissioning of autonomy hardware, deploying and fine-tuning autonomous vehicle software, coordinating testing efforts with asset managers, and conducting on-vehicle validation. You will also be responsible for documenting test outcomes and communicating findings to controls and autonomy engineers, as well as management.

Key Responsibilities

As an Autonomous Field Validation Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Integrating, troubleshooting, and commissioning drive-by-wire and autonomy hardware systems.
  • Managing in-field deployments and testing of autonomous vehicle software and dynamic control systems.
  • Executing tests for new firmware, software, or hardware components.
  • Deploying software on embedded Linux platforms.
  • Creating comprehensive test plans and schedules.
  • Drafting test instructions for vehicle operators.
  • Regularly reporting and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues and suggest product enhancements.
  • Conducting failure analysis to determine root causes of reported issues.
  • Working independently to gather data and complete necessary vehicle performance evaluations.
  • Contributing to customer documentation and training resources for various software applications.
  • Assisting clients with system hardware and software configuration and usability.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle electrical systems and hardware installations.
  • Willingness to travel to operational sites and work in a FIFO capacity.

  • Experience testing controls and actuators.
  • Proficiency with data acquisition tools (e.g., National Instruments, Somat Edaq).
