About the Role

Life Without Barriers is seeking a skilled Child & Family Practitioner to join our team in Milton. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support and supervision to foster carers and children in care.

This full-time position is a 1-year maximum term contract, offering a unique opportunity for a professional with experience in child protection and out-of-home care to make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough casework practice, working collaboratively with government agencies, families, carers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement individualized care plans that prioritize the protection and well-being of children and young people.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to Foster Carers, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to provide quality care.
  • Offer regular supervision and support through home visits and telephone calls, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Support Foster Carers in the case planning process, assisting them in implementing strategies outlined in care plans and ensuring seamless collaboration with all parties involved.
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports, fostering a positive work environment that encourages growth and development.
  • Ensure comprehensive risk assessments, cultural support plans, safety plans, and behavioral support plans are developed and implemented, guaranteeing a safe and nurturing environment for all.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including file notes, carer renewals, foster care agreements, and records within the CIRTS database.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A recognized degree qualification in Social Work or Psychology or a related field.
  • Significant experience in the child protection and out-of-home care sector, demonstrating expertise in working with individuals, families, and communities from a strength-based perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify an individual's strengths and areas for improvement within the context of providing foster and/or host care, emphasizing permanency for children in care.
  • Current driver's license.
