Project Accounting Specialist

The role of Senior Project Accountant supports a significant road infrastructure project delivering the MRPV initiative in Melbourne. This position works closely with the Commercial team and wider project team to provide management and cost accounting services, ensuring the integrity of project accounts.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement an appropriate project cost coding structure for all costs incurred
  • Manage accruals and prepare journal entries for project adjustments
  • Ensure timely submission and assist in preparing progress claims and tax invoices to clients
  • Provide detailed and accurate reporting on forecasts, budget, and cash flow by specified deadlines to the project team and corporate finance team
  • Foster robust financial reporting across the project delivery team
  • Manage the Project Bank Account according to MRPV requirements
  • Offer finance support to the project management team
  • Meet month-end deadlines
  • Review current processes for management account preparation and suggest improvements for streamlining across the business
  • Maintain the accounting integrity of project accounts and the general ledger

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or a related field
  • Post-graduate experience of 6+ years
  • CPA/CA qualification is highly regarded
  • Previous experience in the construction industry is highly valued
  • Experience with Victorian government infrastructure projects is preferred
