Key Responsibilities:

  • Measuring areas to be covered and consulting plans to estimate quantities of floor covering materials needed
  • Preparing surfaces for covering and removing baseboard trims
  • Removing existing flooring and discarding this material, if applicable
  • Preparing wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning work surface from dust, debris, and obstructions
  • Measuring, cutting and fixing underlay materials
  • Laying coverings, such as wood, carpets, linoleum, parquetry blocks, cork tiles and other resilient flooring materials, over floors, matching patterns, cutting shapes around fixtures and trimming edges
  • Use tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges and corners, and around objects such as fitting and pipes
  • Securing floor coverings and fitting edge trims in doorways
  • May install wall, ceiling, counter and bench coverings
  • May lay floors of granolithic, terrazzo, cement or similar composition

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Good reporting skills
  • With strong attention to detail
  • Be physically fit
  • Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable
  • Must have great work ethics

Salary: Between $70,000 and $75,000 per annum + Super

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
