Job Description

The School of Computer Science and Engineering at a world-leading institution in computing is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence Engineer. As a member of our faculty, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that combine machine learning and AI concepts with software engineering.

Your primary responsibility will be to fine-tune large language models to provide context-aware feedback to students in university courses. This requires expertise in developing and refining complex AI systems, as well as ensuring their reliability and alignment with experimental goals.

To achieve this, you will need to apply advanced knowledge of machine learning and AI concepts, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to the development of innovative methodologies. You will also be responsible for testing new AI models and systems, liaising with other engineers and stakeholders, and maintaining high-quality datasets.

In addition, you will be expected to prepare comprehensive documentation of AI model development processes and protocols, provide regular progress updates, and collaborate with the supervisor to ensure the project's success.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence) or equivalent level of knowledge gained through education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently, monitoring own workflow and priorities.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy and programming ability, with experience in machine learning frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn).
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
