Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Austong International Pty Ltd, trading as Daily Fresh Eggs, is a well-established egg farm in Victoria, boasting over 110,000 laying birds across four cage sheds. Each shed is equipped with 48 egg belts, totaling 168 belts, and four egg collectors, making a total of 16 collectors with three motors each. The farm's daily operations primarily involve caring for these birds, which rely heavily on automated laying equipment.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machine Mechanical Technician responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting of farm equipment. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and effectively within a small team environment, with specific responsibilities including:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Chicken shed technical maintenance: Ensure smooth operation of the feed trolley system, adjust feed distribution, check cables and rollers.
  • Grading room technical maintenance: Maintain and repair the grading machine, assist with technician training, ensure smooth operation of the packaging line, and lubricate according to the manual.
  • Paddock machinery maintenance: Perform basic repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting on farm machinery, including tractors, loaders, and forklifts.

Requirements:

  • Trade Certificate related to Mechanical Technology
  • At least 2 years on the field working experience in the mechanical industry
  • Relevant working experience in the agricultural industry is preferred
  • Familiar with egg farming mechanical systems, competent to use relevant tools and equipment specific to egg farming machines
  • Forklift license (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work unsupervised within a small team
