A pioneering opportunity awaits a highly skilled and dedicated Visiting Medical Officer to join our GP Sexual Assault Service team in Northern NSW. As part of this esteemed team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services to clients and patients requiring immediate medical and forensic intervention following sexual assault disclosure.


Key Responsibilities
  • Timely response to clients/patients necessitating urgent medical and/or forensic care following sexual assault revelation.
  • Participation in a 24/7 on-call roster, ensuring rapid deployment within two hours to provide optimal client/patient outcomes.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner or equivalent overseas trained specialist pathways.
  • Possession of a recognized qualification and training in Sexual Assault and Forensic Examination, or willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • Demonstrated experience and recency of clinical practice in areas such as sexual assault, women's health, mental health, and emergency medicine.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, encompassing oral and written communication.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Valid unrestricted NSW driver's licence and willingness to travel in the course of employment.

The NNSWLHD Sexual Assault Service provides crisis response teams for children, young people, and adults who have experienced assault or attempted assault, offering follow-up support, advocacy, and information about the legal process.
