We're working with a local council to recruit a Transport Planner for an 8-month temporary contract assignment with hybrid working arrangements and an immediate start available.

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for developing the active transport and public transport components of the council's Integrated Transport Strategy.

The ideal candidate will have experience in transport engineering or planning, preferably in the public sector, and be able to develop solutions to transportation network issues.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Developing sustainable transport strategies, including active transport, public transport, cycling, and walking policies.
  • Liaising with residents, state government, internal, and external stakeholders to gather and share information.
  • Conducting data analysis and updating/mapping routes using GIS.
  • Carrying out environmental impact assessments to inform transport planning decisions.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Transport engineering or planning experience, preferably in the public sector.
  • Ability to develop solutions to transportation network issues.
  • Experience in developing active transport strategies.
  • A solid understanding of local government principles and practices.
  • A current driver's license.
